Ryan has been in the martial arts for over 8 years.
Ryan has competed in both national and international competitions.
In 2006 in Dominican for the Goodwill Games, Ryan returned home with a gold medal in sparring and a bronze medal in traditional forms.
In the 2007 Goodwill Games in Cancun, Mexico Ryan finished the competition with a bronze medal in traditional forms.
In 2008 Goodwill Games in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Ryan finished the competition with gold medals in traditional forms and sparring as well as a bronze medal in chanbara.
In January 2009 in Cuba for the International Congress of Martial Arts International Games, Ryan placed with a gold medal in sparring and three silver medals in open musical weapons, traditional forms and traditional weapons.
In Panama 2010 in Panama for the International Congress of Martial Arts International Games, Ryan placed gold in forms, 2 silvers in open forms and open weapons, as well as a bronze in weapons in the black belt divisions.
Locally, Ryan is was a PMA National Champion in 2007 winning the 12 year old boys sparring.
Ryan is currently working towards his Advanced Jr Black Belt.
