Jarred started his martial arts training at age 19, he currently holds an adult brown belt, and is working towards his black sash. In addition to his current traditional Kung Fu training he also has an interest in extreme martial arts and Wushu (Taolu), and has experience in the hung gar Kung Fu style.
Jarred competes on the local and international level, and has competed with the national martial arts team from 2005-2010.
Jarred competed in the 2010 International Congress of Martial Arts International Games placing 4 bronze medals in open weapons, weapons, forms and sparring.
The most notable achievements are gold in traditional weapons, silver in sparring, and bronze in traditional empty hand in Mexico 2005, silver in traditional weapons and empty hand forms in the 2007 world cup, and gold in both traditional events and sparring in Mexico 2008. He was also the recipient of the triple crown title in the P.M.A two years in a row. Jarred enjoys volunteering at the club when he can to help teach the next generation of martial artists.
Before martial arts, Jarred was active with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets and music. He spent 8 years in the Air Cadets achieving the rank of Sergeant and teaching lower ranking cadets everything from drill to his squadrons marching band. In the summer of 1999 he was employed by the Department of Defence teaching trumpet at an Air Cadet camp on Canadian Forces Base Borden, and was one of 55 Cadets to be in the Central Region Service Band representing Ontario and Manitoba in the first National Canadian Cadet Tattoo in Edmonton Alberta July 28th 1999 which involved almost 1000 Cadets from Across Canada.
