David started the martial arts in 2001 at the age of 9. David has been competing in both local and international tournaments since his first year of kung fu.
In 2007, David finished the year placing 4th for top points in the PMA for sparring.
In 2006 in Dominican for the Goodwill Games, David finished with bronze medals in forms and sparring.
In 2007 in Cancun, Mexico for the Goodwill Games, David finished with bronze medals in traditional forms and sparring. In 2008 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for the Goodwill Games, David finished with a gold medal in sparring and silver medal in forms.
In 2009 in Cuba, for the International Congress of Martial Arts International Games, David finished with a silver medal in sparring and bronze medals in traditional forms and weapons.
In 2010 in Panama, for the International Congress of Martial Arts International Games, David finished with a gold in weapons and silver in forms.
In April 2010, David was graded for his Adult Black Sash.
